Cytrence Kiwi supports firmware updates in the field. If your Kiwi is performing as expected, there's no need for a firmware update. However, if you encounter issues, upgrading to the latest firmware might help resolve them.
Starting with Cytrence Kiwi version 1.1.3, the application bundles the latest firmware available at the time of its release.
When you download and install Cytrence Kiwi version 1.1.3 or newer, the app will check the Kiwi’s firmware version upon its first connection. If the bundled firmware differs from the current version, you will be prompted to update. Downgrading the firmware is supported, allowing you to revert to an older version if necessary.
You also have the option to update the firmware manually. However, manual firmware updates are only supported for Kiwi Pro.
Follow these steps to manually update your Kiwi Pro firmware:
Contact the Cytrence support team to get the firmware version you need.
Plug in your Kiwi Pro to your host computer.
Open the Cytrence Kiwi application.
Connect your Kiwi Pro device.
Navigate to the "About..." menu. If the Kiwi Pro is successfully connected, you will see the current firmware version.
In the "About..." dialog, click the "Pick a File..." button, then find and select the new firmware file. The firmware file has a '.ufw' extension.
Click the "Update to" button to start the update.
Once the update is complete, the new firmware will take effect immediately. There's no need to unplug and plug the Kiwi.
Make sure the Kiwi is securely connected during the update to avoid damaging the firmware.
